12th edition of prestigious institutionalized biennial International Event - Minerals Metals Metallurgy & Materials (MMMM2018) will be organized at Pragati Maidan, N.Delhi during 29 – 31 August 2018. An Exhibition & Expo is being organized where global leading Technology/Equipment Suppliers, related to metal industries, will be showcasing their technologies, products & services for promotion of business for growth and development of Metals and Minerals sectors. Concurrently an International Technical Conference on `Minerals & Metals Sector – Growth Prospects in New Business Environment' will also be held on these days at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Minerals and Metals Industry is a vital sector driving growth of Indian Economy contributing ~ 4.5% of GDP. India is currently the third largest producer of crude steel in the world. India is expected to become second largest producer of steel in near future. As per "National Steel Policy 2017" the crude steel production capacity will be 300 MTPY by 2030. To achieve this target, production of about 450 MTPY of Iron ore will be required. Correspondingly, there will also be substantial increase in the requirement of other Minerals. India is having sizeable reserves of aluminium, copper, zinc and chrome ores. Non-ferrous metals industry also plays an important role in the country's economic growth. Metals and alloys of aluminium, copper, zinc and lead are widely used in power transmission, electrical appliances, aviation and other industrial applications.
Under "Make in India" initiative of Government of India, there is significant potential for growth in manufacture of equipment for defence, railways, space and aviation sectors. In addition, there is a vast opportunity for exploration and production of rare-earth minerals for installation of nuclear power plants (to meet the ever growing demand of power) and other strategic sectors. To attain the expected GDP growth and targeted steel production, the country is poised for massive infrastructure development like dedicated freight corridors, modernisation & expansion of ports, urban development including housing, smart cities and metro rail projects in many cities and Bharatmala/ Sagarmala projects etc. India has improved its image in Ease of Doing Business and one of the International rating agencies has improved India's rating for foreign investments. Thus, India offers a conducive platform and the new business environment for various industrial sectors. In this context, Indian Institute of Metals – Delhi Chapter is organising this MMMM 2018 event.
